Following The Current
Our family's story is a tide story. It has pulled us out and brought us home, again and again, the way the ocean moves — not randomly, but with a rhythm and a reason.
We first left Hawaii as a young family — my wife, our three children, and I — chasing the practical realities that young families face. The islands we loved could not yet hold us the way we needed. So we left. But Hawaii has a way of calling you back. When we found out we were expecting our son, the pull became undeniable. We returned home, moved between the homes of family who held us, and slowly found our footing again.
Over the years, the tide carried us back and forth between the islands and Northern California — seven years of thriving in the north, then home again during COVID to be close to family, then back to California when work called, then home once more to welcome our first grandchild, and then a second. Today we are back in Northern California so our youngest son can play baseball with his teammates and grow into the young man he is becoming.
Each move has shaped us. Each homecoming has reminded us what matters. Waiola Coffee Company is the product of all of it — the journey, the longing, the joy of return, and the love of a family that has never stopped flowing toward one another no matter the distance.
